Fresh off the Gratitude

Hey Internet,

Aaron "Subsaharan" Rajan here. How have you been? You look plump with a fine balance of actual information and seedy adult content. But I digress...

The last few weeks have been quite exciting for us at the "Fresh off the Film" labs. It's an interesting business, this film industry innit? It really has it's ups and downs, but as with many things in life, it's important to realize when you're on the upswing. And I would definitely say we're on the upswing.

Our first chunk of good fortune has come in the shape our latest video, "Bye Bye Braz Braz." Not only have we been lucky enough for it to have reached over 800 views in its first week and a bit, we've most importantly created something that we really enjoy. While we're definitely keen to have people watch our stuff, we've realized that our best work is the stuff we genuinely like, and without a doubt, "Bye Bye Braz Braz" surely meets that criteria. At that same token, we're really appreciative of everyone that's watched it and who will continue to watch our flicks as we develop into solid filmmakers.

The next tidbit is regarding the last skit we just shot this week. This is our first production in which we actually used extras and characters outside the "Fresh off the Film" world. It's a quirky piece that takes place in a group sex etiquette class. That's right, there is etiquette to a body-party. While we were shooting, we had a rendez-vous with the boys in blue. Let's just say, there was a half naked man in a trench coat, which is never easy to explain. Bryan "Charbroiled" Brooks will be taking the reins on editing this one, which means it's gonna be good. Real good. So stay tuned.

A friend of the family, Mike Koncan, is setting up a variety show at Ryerson called "Friday Night Live." It is an SNL-type show featuring the work from students in my program, Radio and Television Arts. He's been kind enough to ask that we submit our skits and create new ones to work as fillers and commercials. This will be shown over campus, online and (fingers crossed) could be nominated for an award in the RTA program come next May.

Cineplex has a competition to create 15 second commercials featuring their "Scene Card." Bryan and I have been brainstorming and we've come up with 12 creative ideas for commercials. We'll need your help, Internet, to win this and you haven't failed us before (not counting being "Rick Rolled" weekly).

That's all for this week. There is going to be a plethora of new skits and shorts in the months to come and we hope you'll be there to watch them.

Yours,

Aaron
